Location: | Ocean Village Marina in the heart of Southampton. |
Boat: | Immaculate 40’ Sunseeker Portofino, 2 engines 460HP, traditional blue hull, sleek, aerodynamic, mediterranean style cockpit, MCA safety coded. |
Dates: | Most Saturdays and occasional Sundays throughout April to October inclusive. |
Times: | Morning Experience starts at 9.30am and Afternoon Experience starts at 1.30pm. |
Duration: | Approximately 2-2.5 Hours. |
Momento: | One complimentary photo will be taken of each participant and emailed after the experience. |
Participants: | Up to 6 adults and 2 children along with the Skipper and Crew. |
Spectators: | Will be able to watch and wave off from the Marina. There are Bars and Restaurants on the Marina there are also cinemas. The city centre with its large shopping mall is just a 20 minute walk away. |
Agenda
• | The Skipper and Crew will meet participants within the bar area of the Banana Wharf Bar/Restaurant in the Marina. There is a designated meeting point with complimentary tea and coffee. |
• | Once settled onboard and after the safety briefing, the Skipper will start the trip off with a gentle ride through the marina, the Skipper will explain navigation and basic plotting techniques and answer any questions. Also, the opportunity to view the other ‘millionaire lifestyle’ boats on their moorings and see the famous marina in all its glory. |
• | Then a cruise down the River Itchen to Southampton Water for the opportunity to sight see the magnificent cruise ships on their docks. At this stage, all participants (including children) will get the option to have a drive at slow speed to get the feel of this luxury powerboat. |
• | The new Queen Elizabeth, QM2, Oriana and Independence of the Seas cruise liners are just some of the ships to look out for. |
• | On reaching the open waters of The Solent and when the speed restriction ends, the Skipper will open up the throttles for a “full-on” blast with up to speeds of 39 knots using the twin engines at 460HP to display the capabilities of this superb 40’ Sunseeker performance powerboat. |
• | At high speed and providing conditions are safe, the Skipper will once again pass over the controls. Under the Skippers instruction and use of the plotter you will get the chance to take the helm to feel the superb handling characteristics of this sleek powerboat. |
• | During this time we will be heading out into the Solent, around Bramble Bank, then across to the Isle of Wight. (Driving of the boat is optional). |
• | On reaching the River Medina, Isle of Wight, the Skipper will cruise through East and West Cowes, home of the world famous sailing regatta. With time to take in the views and for each participant to have their photograph taken at the helm. |
• | On reaching the Lifeboat Bar & Restaurant we will turn round to cruise down the other side of the River Medina and head back out to the Solent. |
• | Heading East towards Portsmouth we will pass Osborn Bay, where you will see the Spinnacre Tower at Portsmouth Harbour. |
• | The fun continues, “full-on” thrills and a high speed blast back to the Marina as we travel to the other side of Bramble Bank across the Solent and the mouth of the famous Hamble River. |
• | Should time allow, we may get to have a go at the popular ‘man over board’ procedure (with a prop, not a guest). |
